The contradas of Siena

Siena is one of the world's heritage by UNESCO. It is a Medieval town still based on its ancient traditions despite modernity and tourism. The strongest of its traditions is the Palio horse race. The Palio is run twice a year, but Sienese folk lives the Palio all year long. Siena is divided into 17 contradas ( neighborhoods), which are very ancient communities, feeling much rivalry and competition. We can breathe this feeling all year long, visiting one of wonderful contradas museums where all heirlooms, Medieval original costumes and prizes are still proudly preserved.
Duration: 2 hours, plus transfer from your accommodation back and forth*Bea's suggestion: Siena also the location of the biggest farmers' market in the area, held once a week in the morning. We could take advantage of our trip to the town!
